Gerald Bailey is a freelance trumpet player in Chicago who currently leads several groups that combine acoustic jazz with live music technology. He has performed with Belle and Sebastian, Mumford and Sons, The Walkmen, Ty Segal, Syl Johnson, The O’Jays and JC Brooks and the Uptown Sound. He has performed for the Obama administration at the White House in 2009 and 2012 and appeared in the Hollywood movie Public Enemies. As an educator, he currently an adjunct professor at Moraine Valley Community College, Ableton Live instructor for After School Matters, and a private trumpet teacher at Chicago High School for the Performing Arts and Lyons Township High School. Gerald provides trumpet performance, original compositions, orchestrations, arrangements, transcriptions, copy work and electronic sequencing. He has appeared on countless recordings for Bloodshot Records, Warner Bros, Drag City, Jump Up, Rabbit Factory and his original music is currently featured on Cartilage Osseux Records, Tape of the Month Club and through independent release. He has a Bachelors degree in trumpet from the University of Cincinnati and a Masters in composition from DePaul University.

Datura Inoxia Release Party

Faraway Plants live in Chicago, IL March 27

My new trio is playing at the Whistler as part of their Relax Attack Jazz Series this coming Monday March 27th at 9:30 pm.  Admission is free and we will be playing two sets of loop based compositions and jazz. Faraway Plants is Gerald Bailey (trumpet, sampler), Anthony Bruno (saxophone, bass) and David Agee (drums).

Komorebi
