Beethoven Festival Chicago

Beethoven Festival Chicago 2012Last week on Friday September 14th the Chicago Beethoven Festival commissioned several producers and popular acts to write and perform music inspired by themes from Beethoven’s third symphony in a series called the Rocketelle Project. I was honored to perform my own music featuring myself on trumpet and electronics and saxophonist Anthony Bruno.  A long list of acts performed including Brighton MA, Stranger Lazy and electronic producer Cos of Push Beats.  The project was added to the festival in order to reach out to an audience that may not normally attend a festival featuring Beethoven’s music.

A new synth, new video, collaboration and a new remix!

Analog instruments have added a whole new richness to the sound of my music.  The Roland Juno provides that warm classic tone used in the music of groups such as Sigur Ros and Justice.  A vintage synthesizer compares to computer generated sounds as Belgian dark chocolate would compare to a snickers bar.  Synths have recently became a bigger part of my live performance in comprovisational collaboration with TAL.  You can catch this current yet unique mix of live composition at Rodan in Wicker Park every other Sunday.
