It’s nice to witness such a positive display of unity amongst original bands in the Chicago area for a good cause. Last night a handful of groups pulled together to benefit students for a free Tibet in memory of it’s director and member of the Beastie Boys, Adam “MCA” Yauch. Each group took on the task of performing covers of classic music recorded by the iconic group. I was honored to have the opportunity to sit in on trumpet with the Low Down Brass Band on a couple of songs including “Brass Monkey”. All the bands pulled together for a very memorable and epic encore.
Charles Mantis is evolving faster than I can keep up with. Please check out the new fan page and e.p. preview. Please hit like to help get the band approved to become and official fund raising group and write me an email with any ideas about what nonprofits should benefit from the proceeds.

2010 Has been a great year so far; playing an event for Playboy Magazine with Black Bear Combo, a song with Jody Watley and a performance at Lollapalooza with Mumford & Sons. I’ve also recorded on a number of soundtracks written by Carl Sondrol for MSN.com, Orbit gum and Collegehumor.com.
In Chicago you can see me play with JC Brooks and the Uptown Sound and Black Bear Combo. Every Thursday night, I play lead trumpet with Alan Gresik’s Swing Shift Orchestra at The Green Mill Cocktail Lounge. Also come check out Stephen Paul Smoker at the North Coast Music Festival in Union Park, Sunday September 5th. I’m sure I’ve left out a number of things…
